Exhibition from December 11, 2024 to March 29, 2025 at the bookstore Utopia, 1 rue Frédéric Sauton, 75005 Paris.
The exhibition Sentientes is a collection of portraits of animal people, which shed light on our relationship to their sensitivity and their existence.
Willène Pilate is an animalist artist. Born in an environment where the relationship with animals is complex, coming from a family of butchers, she has developed a unique sensitivity towards the beings that populate our world.
Her passion for art is deeply rooted in her fight against all forms of animal exploitation. Determined to give a voice to those who are often silenced, her works challenge through their emotion and their commitment to the animal cause.
Each line, each brushstroke is a call to anti-speciesism, this idea that the species to which an individual belongs is not a relevant criterion for determining the moral consideration that we must give them. Willène Pilate refuses to separate art from her message, using her work to raise collective awareness of the injustices suffered by animals.
Through her portraits of animal people, she seeks to raise awareness and inspire a paradigm shift. Her creations invite everyone to reflect on our relationship with animals.
By choosing to follow her own path despite her social and family context, Willène Pilate wants to create an art that will be much more than an aesthetic expression, an art that will be an ode to compassion and justice for all living beings.
